Recreation at the heart of the community is a theme which ran through a major addition to this public recreation centre. Healthy recreation is clearly on display to the community with the addition of a large glazed fitness area which also provides ‘eyes on the park’ to create, safe accessible outdoor space.
The addition included a new 6500 square feet gym, an outdoor patio, 8000 square feet of fitness space and approximately 12,000 square feet of the revitalized existing community centre. A new parking area and associated landscape fulfilled the expanded parking requirement as well as providing flexible space for markets, fairs, and informal sports. The existing facility remained open for the duration of construction and the construction-managed ‘at risk’ project was completed on budget in time for the projected Spring opening.
