Marketing and Business Development Specialist
We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Vancouver office for a Marketing and Business Development Specialist. In this role, you will primarily oversee the day-to-day communications and business development efforts and pursuits, continue building and strengthening our brand identity and culture, and support the overall growth of our practice. This position is for an individual that can work independently, loves to take charge of projects, can manage other employees to provide you information you need to get the project done. We are looking for Creative Marketing Specialist with fresh ideas to join our team to build and expand our brand visibility. The Creative Marketing Specialist is responsible for the planning, development, and delivery of high performing digital campaigns across all media channels.
This is what you bring to SHAPE Architecture
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. fine art, marketing or business administration with a marketing specialization)
- At least 3+ years of marketing-related experience; 1+ year of proposal coordination experience (preferably in the AEC industry)
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to follow up
- Experience with graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite
- Intermediate experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience managing websites and social media
- Excellent command of the English language, with effective written and oral communication skills
- Experience as a team player and active contributor with flexibility to work independently
- Ability to think critically and bring different perspectives to discussions

This is what the position entails
- Maintain brand identity, tone, and personality for internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with leadership to help develop and optimize our marketing strategy and initiatives
- Oversee pursuit opportunities and coordinate communications, requirements and deadlines for proposals as needed
- Assist in the tracking and coordination of award submissions and publication opportunities
- Create and manage marketing materials and database including brochures, project information, resumes, presentations and more
- Create and manage content for social media and website on a regular basis
- Continually assess marketing/business development initiatives for opportunities and improvements
- Occasionally support Office Administration/HR with marketing/branding-related work as needed (e.g. creating/formatting job postings, documents, signage, etc.)
Intermediate Intern Architect
SHAPE Architecture has an immediate opportunity for the position of Intermediate Intern Architect in our Vancouver office. The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- A degree in Architecture from an accredited University
- 3-5 years post-graduate professional experience
- 1-2 years demonstrated proficiency with Revit, Sketchup
- Proficiency in construction documentation including envelope detailing
- Strong conceptual and technical design skills
- Experience working on complex public and institutional projects an asset
- Experience developing contract documents, including interior details
- A solid understanding of the Vancouver Building Bylaw, BC Building Code and other relevant Municipal Zoning Regulations
- Good command of the English language, with effective written and verbal communication skills
- Eligible to work in Canada (must be registered with the AIBC or be eligible for registration in the province of British Columbia)
- Willing to work from the office
- Well developed understanding of current building systems, and materials
- A passion for accuracy and organization
- A collaborative and flexible approach
- Experience as a team player and active contributor

- Working with a team of architects and intern architects to deliver project documentation requirements through all project phases
- Development and preparation of Design Development Drawings and outline specifications
- Development and preparation of Contract Documents and specifications
- Coordination of project documentation from subconsultants
- Coordination of code and bylaw analysis
- Assistance with Contract Administration
- This full-time position will start in May 2022
Student Intern
SHAPE Architecture has an immediate opportunity for the position of Student Intern in our Vancouver office. The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Assist with design drawings
- Discuss project requirements with your team
- Organize files and materials
- Visit worksites to make sure everything goes as planned
- Prepare contracts, reports, CAD drawings and diagrams
- Generate design development ideas
- Research building codes and standards
- Develop 3D conceptual designs
- Prepare design mock-ups and color boards
- Research the different types of building materials, lighting fixtures and other products
- Good command of the English language, with effective written and verbal communication skills

Architectural Technologist
SHAPE Architecture has an opportunity for an Architectural Technologist in our Vancouver office. The studio is a fast-paced, progressive and expanding design practice. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- An Architectural Technology Diploma or Architecture Degree
- Experience working on projects in a variety of sectors – including mixed-use residential and institutional
- 5+ years of experience as an architectural technologist
- Proficiency in construction documentation including envelope detailing
- Advanced fluency with Revit
- Excellent understanding of the Vancouver Building Bylaw, BC Building Code and the Municipal Zoning Regulations
- Well developed understanding of current building systems, and materials
