A custom family house for a family of four, this 3-level residence is located on the “Northwest Arm” of Halifax Harbour near Dalhousie University. The Mi’kmaq Nation called this water body “Waygwalteech” which translates to “salt water all the way up.” The house is nestled into the unique topography of the local escarpment. A modest street-front sequence from street to garage to front door opens up to dramatic multistory views of the waterfront. The house is clad in silvered cedar cladding, with large subtractions from the main volume of the building stained dark.
